Traslasierra National Park<\/strong><\/h3>

We supported the process of creating Traslasierra National Park, a key initiative for the conservation of the Dry Chaco region in C\u00f3rdoba\u2014one of Argentina\u2019s most threatened and altered ecosystems.<\/p>

Our work focused on generating scientific data and developing communication strategies to highlight the environmental and social value of this territory. Through biodiversity studies, field surveys, and outreach activities, we helped strengthen the case for its protection.<\/p>

Thanks to the collaborative efforts of civil society organizations, government agencies, academic institutions, and local stakeholders\u2014including Aves Argentinas, the National Parks Administration, and both national and provincial governments\u2014C\u00f3rdoba now has a national park that protects a representative sample of the Chaco forest and its associated biodiversity.<\/p>

Traslasierra National Park protects approximately 100,000 hectares, conserving vital habitats for numerous native plant and animal species while also contributing to the region's ecological connectivity.<\/p>

Developing Protected Area Opportunities in the Cha\u00f1i Highlands<\/strong><\/h3>

The Fundaci\u00f3n Naturaleza Argentina has spearheaded a process of biological, cultural, and social research to understand the significance of this territory and generate information that contributes to its long-term conservation.<\/p>

Our work included biodiversity studies, territorial surveys, and participatory assessments of productive activities conducted alongside local communities. We also supported initiatives to improve access to information and strengthen the community, fostering awareness of rights related to the territory and its natural resources.<\/p>

We aspire for this territory to benefit from effective protection mechanisms that ensure the preservation of its natural and cultural values \u200b\u200bfor future generations.<\/p>

This area provides a vital ecosystem service: the supply of high-quality water for human consumption and productive use. It is the site of fundamental ecological processes characteristic of Puna and High-Andean environments. <\/span>Aqu\u00ed <\/span>ocurren procesos ecol\u00f3gicos fundamentales de los ambientes de Puna y Altoandino.<\/span><\/p>

Proyecto para conservar el Monte Chaque\u00f1o del Norte de Salta<\/strong><\/h3>

One of Argentina\u2019s best-preserved continuous tracts of Chaco forest stretches across the far north of Salta. Located in the Santa Victoria Este area\u2014bordering Bolivia and Paraguay\u2014this territory safeguards over 600,000 hectares of woodlands, palm groves, lagoons, and riparian forests that sustain extraordinary biological and cultural diversity.<\/p>

We work alongside Indigenous communities, Criollo families, public agencies, and local organizations to explore\u2014through a participatory approach\u2014the creation of new protected areas. The project supports processes involving territorial dialogue, data generation, and consensus-building, aiming to conserve the landscape while respecting the region's diverse perspectives and social dynamics.<\/p>

This vast Chaco forest is home to iconic and threatened species such as the jaguar, the Chacoan peccary, the giant armadillo, and the *palo santo* tree. It is also one of the country\u2019s most culturally and linguistically diverse regions, where Indigenous communities preserve ancestral knowledge deeply rooted in nature. Our goal is to help protect this natural and cultural heritage and to create development opportunities for the communities that rely on the forest.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
